Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.



Responsibilities for this Position

Overview:

The Sr Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of mechanical devices, including
tools, engines, and machines. They apply principles of engineering, physics, and materials science to create
mechanical solutions that are safe, efficient, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:
• Completes feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
• Performs product design and development leveraging core mechanical knowledge in Computer-Aided Design,
thermal, structural, and dynamic analysis.
• Prepares detailed designs, design testing, and prototype fabrication.
• Collaborates with cross-functional domains including Other Engineering Disciplines, Program Management,
Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.
• Completes assigned engineering tasks or projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
• Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily
obtained.
• Works on problems with defined scope, schedule, and expectations.
• Builds stable working relationships internally.
• Provides design information for detailing packaging documentation.
• Begins participating in the proposal process.
• Identifies technical and organizational risks and ensures they are included in risk mitigation plans.
• Understands and interprets the technical, organizational, and process aspects of assigned tasks.
• Executes small projects or task elements within larger projects or organizations.
• Develops program strategies and teaming strategies related to assigned tasks.
• Develops proposal content and basis of estimates.
• Provides Cost Account Management (CAM) inputs to project leader.
• Plans and executes small to mid-size projects or task elements within larger projects.
• Mentors lower labor grades in mechanical principles and project performance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong with solid modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and accompanying drawings.
• Ability to be creative, innovative, and responsible, with Strong decision-making skills.
• Strong ability to grasp and apply new information quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong knowledge of technical standards, manufacturing/fabrication methods, government/industry standards.
• Educational level knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and understanding of application.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong history of leading an engineering project and team.
• Strong proficiency in generating technical presentations, writing technical papers, and proposals.
• Strong understanding of and application of basic project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value,
Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a
minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or
• Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $142,696.00 - USD $158,303.00 /Yr.
