Overview:

Grantsville City is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to serve as Parks and Cemetery Seasonal Maintenance Workers. This seasonal position supports the maintenance and upkeep of City parks, public grounds, and the City cemetery.

Working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position assists with grounds maintenance, facility upkeep, and general labor tasks to ensure public spaces remain clean, safe, and well-maintained for residents and visitors. Seasonal staff play an important role in maintaining the appearance and functionality of City parks and the cemetery.

This position provides an opportunity to work outdoors while supporting the care and maintenance of important community spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Parks and Grounds Maintenance

• Assists with routine maintenance of City parks, playgrounds, ballfields, courts, pavilions, and public grounds.
• Performs tasks such as mowing, trimming, weed control, trash collection, and general grounds upkeep.
• Maintains landscaping areas including grass, trees, flower beds, and planted areas.
• Removes debris from grounds, sidewalks, and public areas; rakes leaves and helps keep parks clean and free of garbage.
• Assists with irrigation checks and basic landscape maintenance.
• Cleans and maintains park facilities including restrooms, shelters, playground areas, courts, and other park amenities.

Cemetery Maintenance

• Assists with mowing, trimming, and general upkeep of the City cemetery.
• Helps maintain cemetery grounds, headstone areas, and pathways.
• Assists with grave preparation tasks and site setup when needed.
• Helps ensure the cemetery remains clean, respectful, and properly maintained.

General Operations

• Reports maintenance needs, safety concerns, or equipment issues to supervisors.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment in parks and cemetery areas.
• Operates hand tools, lawn equipment, and City vehicles associated with grounds maintenance and landscaping activities.
• Assists with general maintenance projects and seasonal work assignments.
• Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.

Working Condition

• Work is primarily performed outdoors in parks, cemetery grounds, and public spaces.
• Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and general physical activity.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and/or move equipment or materials up to 60 pounds.

• Understanding and adherence to safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Operation of basic landscaping equipment and use hand tools safely.
• Capacity to work independently and complete assigned tasks.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions or work assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred (or currently enrolled in school). Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating lawn equipment or similar machinery preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to perform physical outdoor work.
