The Bilingual Home Visitor /Parent Educator through home visiting, provide early childhood development and parent education to families and their children in the Early Childhood Program. Work on a team utilizing the Principles of Family Support Practice to enhance the overall development of children and families in the program.
The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
  • Preferred Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in child development, early childhood education, social work, or related field.
  • Gateways Credential
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.
  • Experience providing home-based services including parent/child interaction activities to Migrant families.
  • Follows Parents as Teachers model guidelines along with additional requirements from the funding partner.
  • Conducts family assessments to determine needs for case management and other referrals as well as the development of an IFSP.
  • Conducts developmental screening, home-based and center-based services, referrals, and advocacy. Supports the family in reaching their identified goals and supports parents in identifying tools and skills to foster their child's healthy development.
  • Maintain required screenings, update immunizations, physicals, dental, and educational status, WIC appointments, and family planning for participants and their children.
  • Attends and participates in all meetings, conferences, and in-service training required by Family Focus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Latino community in Chicago and the surrounding areas.
  • This position requires extensive local travel, must have dependable transportation, a valid Driver's License, and Auto Insurance that will allow for the completion of caseload responsibility.
  • Sometimes schedule will require work on Saturday for special events.
Salary: $48,200/year.
