This role sits at the critical operational core of a leading transplant program, ensuring timely coordination of life-saving organ procurement activities. You will manage incoming organ offers, assess suitability in collaboration with clinical teams, and coordinate logistics for organ recovery and transport under strict time constraints. Working in a high-stakes, fast-paced healthcare environment, you will serve as a key communication hub between procurement organizations, surgical teams, and transport partners. The position requires strong clinical judgment, precision, and the ability to perform effectively in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Operating remotely within a structured transplant coordination system, you will directly contribute to improving transplant outcomes and saving lives. This is a mission-driven role where accuracy, urgency, and collaboration are essential every day.
In this role, you will coordinate end-to-end organ procurement operations while ensuring compliance with national transplant regulations and maintaining seamless communication across all stakeholders.
- Manage and respond to organ offers from local, regional, and national procurement organizations, evaluating initial suitability with clinical teams.
- Coordinate procurement logistics, including dispatching surgical teams and arranging air or ground transportation within strict time requirements.
- Support organ recovery processes by serving as a clinical and operational resource for preservation and procurement activities.
- Ensure accurate documentation by entering, maintaining, and analyzing donor and transplant data in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in selection committees, reporting, and performance tracking to support clinical decision-making and program improvement.
- Contribute to training, onboarding, and education efforts for new staff, residents, and fellows on procurement and allocation procedures.
This position requires a strong clinical foundation, operational discipline, and the ability to perform in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or completion of an accredited Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or Paramedic program.
- Active clinical license (RN, Respiratory Therapist, or Paramedic) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in organ procurement, critical care, or transplant coordination.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, donor evaluation processes, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple urgent cases simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary clinical and external teams.
- Must reside in Northeast Ohio and be available for rotating 12-hour shifts (day/night), including weekends and holidays.
- Preferred: CPTC certification, prior transplant/UNOS-UNET experience, and familiarity with organ procurement systems.
