Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under minimal supervision the Executive Director will have leadership, sales, human resource, finance, regulatory, and resident/family relations experience in assisted living. They will possess effective written and verbal communication skills with employees, supervisors, residents, families, physicians, and other stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promote an incredible resident experience by building relationships with residents and setting superior standards for staff performance.
- Meet financial goals through maintaining a high census, achieving budgeted goals, and directing expense control.
- Maintain compliance at the federal, state, and local levels, striving for deficiency-free surveys.
- On site executive for all operations, acting as contact for all staff, residents, prospects, community organizations, government agencies and the public.
- Manage community budget and analyze financial statements, maintains budget accountability, anticipates and minimizes negative budget variances and deficits.
- Ensure that the building, grounds, and property are maintained at the highest standard of excellence through preventative maintenance systems and programs.
- Review resident and associate complaints and grievances and make written reports of action taken. Discuss such actions with appropriate parties.
- Participate in State and company surveys of the community, communicate results to staff and develop plan of corrections.
- Ensure that adequate number of appropriately trained licensed professional, and non- licensed personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents.
- Oversee resident care – assessments, move-in, service plans, invoicing, progress notes, communicate with families, meet with residents, intervention/behavior management, and nursing care.
- Manage the recruiting, hiring, training, development, and day-to-day relations for the team
ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Review accident/incident reports (e.g., falls, injuries of an unknown source, abuse, etc.)
- Represent the facility in community groups and affairs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of strategic plans to increase efficiency, growth and profitability;
- Develop and maintain relationships with State Surveyors and resident health care providers
- Ensure applicable guidelines are followed by associates, residents, visitors, and the general public.
- Performs related duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of state rules, regulations, fire codes and other safety practices;
- Knowledge of purchasing and budgeting procedures, and financial statements;
- Knowledge of all residents rights, including the right to be free of restraints and abuse;
- Ability to use office equipment such as computers, printers, fax machines, email;
- Ability to use computer programs such as email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel;
- Certifications in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR),
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and facility issues and records.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass a criminal background check;
- This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Have 5 or more years of experience in long-term care leadership role, and 3 or more years of experience as an Assisted Living Administrator.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of experiences and education.
- Complete continuing education required by the state licensing agency and in leadership, communication, management, and related areas;
- Must possess valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and personal automobile insurance
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds;
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to ensure staffing needs are met, including during weekends and holidays.
- Work is performed both in an office and a health services environment and requires sufficient mobility and physical reflexes to perform in both environments;
