Performs a variety of duties involving the diagnoses, treatment, and management of individuals with hearing loss or balance problems.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Identifies, assesses, diagnoses, manages, and interprets test results related to disorders of human hearing, balance, and other neural systems for pediatrics through geriatrics.
2. Evaluate auditory function of patients utilizing diagnostic audiologic tests that include, but are not limited to, pure tone and speech testing, immittance testing, and otoacoustic emission testing.
3. Evaluate vestibular system with videonystamography (VNG) procedures.
4. Perform advanced electrophysiologic tests that include, but are not limited to, Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing, and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) testing.
5. Interpret results and counsel patients regarding their test results to determine a course of treatment and review options that best meet their hearing care needs.
6. Provide hearing aid services including hearing aid evaluation, hearing aid dispensing, and hearing aid adjustments/follow up with appropriate counseling.
7. Assists patients with Cochlear Implant evaluation, device selection, programming and counseling.
8. Educate patients about hearing health, treatment options, and preventive measures.
9. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including otolaryngologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
10. Demonstrate strong organizational skills by managing patient appointments, follow-ups, and documentation efficiently.
11. Mentor and provide direction to Audiology doctoral students.
II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Master's or Doctorate Degree in Audiology from an accredited institution of higher learning.
2. Massachusetts’ Audiologist license.
3. Attainment of the Certificate of Clinical Competence within six months of date of hire.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Audiology.
2. Demonstrated skill in analyzing problems and making decisions.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
5. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred:
1. Minimum of 1 year Audiology experience.
