Job Overview:
The Mental Health Screener Community Outreach Specialist responds to the emotional needs of those requesting assistance through screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and outreach while ensuring a smooth transition and use of mental health resources,
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required;
- Certified New Jersey Mental Health Screener or immediately eligible with six months of hire required;
- Two years experience in a mental health setting, preferably in crisis intervention/emergency services,
Scheduling Requirements:
- Days to work
- FT
- 40 hours/week
Essential Functions:
- Provides crisis intervention, information, and referral services on the telephone, in the Emergency Room and throughout the community,
- Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service,
- Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records,
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
- Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate
- Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures,
- Demonstrates sound judgment; accepts and benefits from constructive criticism
- Participates in ongoing education as required,
