We are seeking a skilled Research Associate II or Senior Research Associate to join our in vitro preclinical team and play a vital role in driving our drug discovery efforts.
The Role: In this position, you will apply your technical expertise to support and execute laboratory research activities with a focus on molecular and cellular biology. This role involves hands-on experimental execution, data analysis, and contributions to study design, with the scope of responsibility and independence determined by experience and demonstrated expertise. The Research Associate will also be responsible for presenting and communicating data at internal scientific meetings, helping to optimize protocols and workflows, as well as maintaining equipment and common lab reagents. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Emeryville, CA.

Essential Job Duties:
- Execution of cell-based assays and biochemical experiments under the direction of a Scientist.
- Actively participate in data analysis, experimental design, and optimization of new protocols and assays.
- Manage the preparation and curation of biological samples, including blood, tissues, and cells from pre-clinical studies.
- Cultivate mammalian cell lines and primary mammalian cells from multiple sources.
- Effectively communicate study results and present data at group meetings.
- Lead in data organization and management within secure database platforms.
- Develop, review, and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Participate in reagent and consumable inventory and ordering.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong technical skills in mammalian cell culture, ELISA, western blotting, RNA isolation from cells and tissue and qPCR required. Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and IHC is a plus.
- Previous experience in the development and execution of cell-based assays including cell-based potency determinations is required.
- Ability to work independently and as a team under the leadership of senior scientists.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- High diligence in documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
- Proficient in computer applications relevant to laboratory research.
- Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.
- Proficiency in Prism, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of data analysis platforms such as FlowJo and Image J is preferred.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology, immunology or related field, with 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience. Candidates with pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience will be prioritized.

The salary for this role is expected to be approximately $95,000 - $105,000, depending on whether offered a role as Research Associate II or Senior.
