About This Position
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ensures that the Sales Department meets their vehicle unit sales quotas and their gross profit objectives on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. Also ensure that the retail units sold produce sufficient gross to aid the dealership in reaching its profit objective on a monthly and yearly basis. Accomplish these objectives through planning, organizing, coordinating and measuring the activities of the Sales Department. Ensure all major decisions are reviewed with the General Manager before implementation and the sales departments compliant with all federal, state and local laws.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in hiring and training staff.
- Schedules staff.
- Assists in discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Explains the policies and procedures of the dealership to sales employees, follows up with employees to verify their understanding and compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/DUTIES:
- Establish monthly sale goals for each salesperson in your department and periodically review the goals with the salesperson and report productivity to the General manager.
- Promotes an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.
- Creates cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership.
- Oversees monthly financial statements to ensure they are complete, accurate and submitted on time to upper management/dealership owners.
- Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership's cost and time limitations.
- Conducts daily and weekly sales and sales training meetings.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintains vehicle inventory. Monitors customers' likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history, and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock.
- Recommend to the General Sales Manager - short and long range advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions, compensation plans, customer complaints resolutions and salespersons’ evaluations.
- Reconcile and assist the business office with all outstanding monies due, especially contracts in transits.
- Ensure all deals are processed and turned into the business office timely.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong management and customer service skills
- 5 years of Automotive dealership experience is required
- Be proficient with dealership DMS, CRM, and inventory management/appraisal tools.
- Experience with pricing and marketing used vehicles via online sites
- Experience with the use of online auctions: buying and selling.
- Experience with factory certified programs
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to understand profit and loss statements, are requirements for success.
- Basic MS Office knowledge; computer software and internet proficiency.
- Excellent verbal/written communication, strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willing to undergo a background check, drug testing, and MVR check as part of the pre-employment process.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Working indoor and outdoor moving about the dealership
