Role: The Bartender prepares and serves drinks to customers and wait staff, processes payments, and performs job responsibilities satisfactorily and according to department and JW Marriott standards. Maintains a clean, organized bar area and ensures compliance with all beverage regulations and company policies. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: must have 2 years of bartending experience.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and bar equipment.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Cash handling and basic math skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Required:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Required Work Cards needed:
- Valid Clark County Health Card
- Valid Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)
- Valid Non-Gaming/Sheriff’s Card
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Must be able to maintain guest focus while performing duties.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to recipes and customer requests.
- Take and serve food and beverage orders from guests and prepare beverage orders for servers.
- Record food and beverage orders accurately and immediately enter orders into POS (Point of Sale) system.
- Operate POS system, process credit card, room, account, and department charges; handle cash payments, payouts, make accurate change, and maintain an accurate cash bank.
- Maintain a clean work station and have a working knowledge of all safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Follow directions and ask questions for clarification when needed.
- Restock, monitor, and maintain an inventory of supplies and replenish bar area as needed throughout the shift.
- Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to management.
- Carry out, within capabilities, all reasonable requests by management.
- Be resourceful with beverages, fruit, and supplies to maintain low beverage costs.
- Possess a keen sense of timing and adjust pace as necessary to meet guest needs.
- Maintain knowledge of food, wine, beer, spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, specialty drink recipes, glassware, and garnishes; prepare and serve beverages consistent with JW Marriott Las Vegas standards.
- Work requires schedule flexibility, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Organize, clean, and maintain beverage station, side stations, proper storage areas, and all supplies that support daily duties.
- Create specialty drinks on a weekly/daily basis and provide recipes.
- Provide food and beverage service for all guests seated at tables in the bar area.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
- Monitor guest behavior and manage alcohol consumption responsibly.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.
