Title: Lead Registered Dental Assistant

Base Salary Range: $34.00 Hourly - plus benefits

FTE: Full-time, Non-Exempt

General Summary:

The Lead Registered Dental Assistant is responsible for maintaining uniform standards for daily dental clinic operations, patient flow, supply ordering, and reporting staff and patient concerns as needed. Also, perform basic supportive dental procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The ideal candidate will have to perform some of the following essential duties.

  • Lead Registered Dental Assistants shall be assigned by region: South Central, and South East clinical regions. South Central: South Central and Jefferson Wellness Center; South East: Huntington Park, Montebello, Elizabeth Learning Center Wellness Center
  • Maintains dental department equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s directions and dental department policy and protocol
  • Prepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting seating, and draping patient
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist’s access; suctioning; passing instruments
  • Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
  • Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
  • Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts
  • Trains new dental assistant employees and maintains quality of care provided by Registered Dental Assistants and unlicensed dental assistants
  • Coordinates employee relations in conjunction with Dental Office Manager/Clinic Administrator/Dental Director, and Human Resources
  • Other duties as allowed for Registered Dental Assistants from the Table of Permitted Duties on the Dental Board of California website.
  • Review provider schedules and identify potential bottlenecks or high-production cases
  • Ensure all team members are aligned on roles, assignments, and expectations for the day
  • The Lead Registered Assistant does not manage or discipline staff behavior

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate from a California Board-approved RDA educational program
  • Require knowledge of dental/office equipment, and dental/medical terminology
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety, infection control & emergency policies and procedures
  • A minimal of two years working as RDA
  • Must be able to work independently within scope of assigned task with minimum supervision

Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly organized and work effectively
  • Bilingual and Bi-literate English/Spanish preferred

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Registered Dental Assistant
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS)
