This is a highly specialized and strategic role focused on ensuring payroll compliance across international markets in a fully remote, fast-evolving environment. You will act as the go-to expert for regional payroll regulations, translating complex legal requirements into scalable systems and processes. Working cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, and operations teams, you will embed compliance directly into platform design and workflows. The role combines deep subject-matter expertise with systems thinking, enabling you to influence both operational execution and product innovation. You’ll lead audits, resolve high-risk compliance issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in global, tech-driven environments and enjoys building compliant solutions at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and oversee payroll compliance for assigned regions, ensuring accurate interpretation and implementation of local labor laws and regulations
  • Translate complex statutory requirements into clear product specifications, workflows, and system logic in collaboration with technical teams
  • Embed compliance into product design by reviewing features, validating payroll calculations, and ensuring auditability and accuracy
  • Lead and manage audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance programs, including planning, execution, and remediation
  • Investigate and resolve payroll compliance incidents, acting as the escalation point for complex or high-risk issues
  • Design and implement scalable compliance processes, governance frameworks, controls, and standard operating procedures
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, training materials, and knowledge-sharing resources for internal teams
  • Mentor and coach team members to strengthen overall compliance capabilities and expertise
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance is integrated into decision-making and business initiatives
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively adapt systems and processes to maintain compliance
Requirements:
  • Deep expertise in payroll and employment compliance within a specific country or region, with strong knowledge of legislation and payroll calculations
  • Proven experience leading audits, compliance programs, or regulatory reviews in complex or multi-country environments
  • Demonstrated ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into product or system specifications
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, particularly in high-risk or sensitive scenarios
  • Experience designing scalable processes, frameworks, and controls for compliance operations
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop team capabilities in compliance and payroll expertise
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote, asynchronous, and fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range with performance-based growth and equity opportunities
  • Fully remote work model with flexible working hours and asynchronous collaboration
  • Flexible paid time off to support work-life balance
  • Paid parental leave and family support benefits
  • Access to mental health and wellbeing support services
  • Learning and development budget for continuous skill enhancement
  • Home office setup allowance and IT equipment support
  • Budget for co-working spaces or local team meetups
  • Inclusive, global work culture with opportunities for internal mobility and career growth
