About This Position
LifeWorks NW's Zenith program provides mental health residential treatment services for youth and young adult clients (17 to 25 years of age) who are experiencing severe and persistent mental illness and behavioral problems.
The Mental Health Associate at Zenith provides services to youth and young adult clients in a residential setting whoare experiencing severe and persistent mental illness and behavioral problemsby providing skills training, case management, and other services as outlinedin a treatment plan.
Location: This position is based out of LifeWorks NW's Zenith Residential, Tigard.
Days/Hours: Saturday and Sunday swing shift=3:00 pm-11:00 pm.
Pay: $24.39-$31.71 hourly pay. **Additional $1.00 shift differential for working swing shifts**
Salary Placement Notice:
The posted salary range reflects the compensation potential for this role. Most candidates will be placed between the entry level and midpoint of the range, depending on their experience and qualifications. However, more seasoned professionals with extensive exact or similar experience may be considered for placement toward the higher end of the range. Final salary offers are made in alignment with internal compensation processes in accordance with Oregon Pay Equity laws.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Administers oral medications, followingphysician's prescriptions and hospital procedures.
- Provides skills training, case management, and other servicesas outlined on a treatment plan.
- Coordinates services with other staffand external organizations such as government agencies, social servicesproviders, and healthcare providers.
- Assesses client's needs, limitations,and potential, using observation, review of hospital records, and consultationwith parents and/or hospital personnel. Observes and interviews clients andconfers with other professionals to evaluate the clients' performance,behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Establishes and enforces rules forbehavior and procedures for maintaining order among clients, employingtechniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Monitorsclients in order to detect unusual behavior and reports observations toprofessional staff.
- Encourages clients to express theirfeelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, and help them to developinsight into themselves and their relationships.
- Counsels clients individually and ingroups on concerns, such as unsatisfactory relationships, divorce andseparation, child rearing, home management, financial difficulties andovercoming dependencies, mental or physical illness, and to help themunderstand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems. Guidesclients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with theirproblems.
- Organizes, supervises, and encouragesclient participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.Provides, finds, or arranges for job and/or school training.
- Provides crisis intervention to clientsexperiencing difficulties.
- Prepares meals and snacks for and/orwith residents.
- Serves as back-up for other staff whenneeded.
- Checks e-mail/voice maildaily/throughout the day when working responding to contacts within48 hours for routine matter (urgent matters mayrequire a more immediate response)
- May be required to transport clients ina LifeWorks vehicle.
- May administer first aid only ifcertified, according to prescribed procedures
Qualifications:
- This position requires a valid and active QMHA credential certification through MHACBO.
- A bachelor's degree in psychology,social work, counseling or a related behavioral sciences field OR a minimum ofthree years experience working with individuals with severe and persistentmental illness.
- Demonstrated ability to communicateeffectively; understand mental health assessment, treatment and serviceterminology and individual, group, family and other counseling techniques;program policies and procedures for services and supports identified in anIndividual Services and Supports Plan.
- Demonstrated effective communicationskills and ability to provide culturally-competent treatment services todiverse client populations and maintain a cooperative working relationship withothers in a culturally diverse environment.
- Demonstrated ability to providepsychosocial skills training, implement elements of a treatment plan, andprovide case management services in compliance with confidentialityrequirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook andWord. Ability to master proprietarysoftware including electronic health record system required.
- Requires valid driver's license, proof of current automobile insurance coverage, verification of safe driving record from DMV, and ability to meet LWNW driving requirements.
