ABOUT THIS MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT MANAGER JOB
You own the full lifecycle of material handling equipment, guiding everything from initial acquisition through long-term performance and eventual replacement to ensure forklifts, conveyors, sortation systems, and palletizers operate reliably every day. You shape maintenance strategies that reduce downtime and extend asset life, using performance data to spot trends and drive timely improvements. Safety and compliance are central to your work, as you lead audits, oversee corrective actions, and collaborate with Safety teams to reinforce proper equipment use. You also play a critical role in evaluating new equipment, guiding installations and acceptance testing, and providing technical leadership during expansions or automation initiatives. Along the way, you partner closely with Operations to improve material flow, build strong vendor relationships, mentor technical team members, resolve high‑priority equipment issues, communicate risks and progress to leadership, and travel to facilities or suppliers when needed to support the business.
Would you excel as our Materials Handling Equipment Manager? Here's some of what you need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience managing material handling equipment in manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments
- Experience managing capital projects and equipment vendors
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
- Familiarity with CMMS/EAM systems for maintenance tracking
- Ability to interpret equipment schematics, layouts, and technical documentation
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs.
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work across operations, engineering, and leadership teams
- Ability to spend time in operational environments (warehouse or plant floor)
- Ability to respond to off-hours equipment issues
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with automated and/or semi-automated MHE systems
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems
- Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM certification
- OSHA certification or strong safety leadership experience
