Position Overview
The Public Relations Manager will lead the development and execution of integrated PR and influencer campaigns that engage Asian American media outlets and diverse consumer audiences. This role blends media relations, influencer partnerships, corporate communications, and public affairs, requiring a deep understanding of AAPI cultures, lived experiences, and key community issues. The ideal candidate brings a strong network of multicultural media and influencer contacts, along with strategic insight into current affairs, public policy, and industries such as retail, fast food, and franchising.
Essential Job Functions
- Partner with the Director of Publicity, Entertainment to drive strategic communications, oversee account management, and lead reporting and creative initiatives
- Lead the development and execution of integrated PR and influencer campaigns, emphasizing strategic insight, resourcefulness, and innovation
- Craft compelling narratives and pitch stories that secure high-impact placements across Asian American and mainstream media outlets
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media and influencers, building and managing robust, targeted contact networks
- Mentor and guide junior team members, providing direction on campaign management and execution
- Develop impactful presentation decks and pitch materials that elevate storytelling and client engagement
- Serve as a subject matter expert on AAPI community and culture, informing client strategies with authenticity and nuance
- Monitor industry trends, media landscapes, and cultural moments to shape forward-thinking strategies
- Contribute to broader brand initiatives and campaigns, supporting overall company growth and visibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of public relations experience, including at least 3 years within a PR agency environment
- Proven track record of success in media and influencer relations
- Strong client management skills, with the ability to effectively organize workflows and drive projects forward
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong copy editing abilities
- Deep understanding of Asian American communities and broader multicultural audiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and exercise sound judgment under pressure
- Familiarity with the press landscape and experience within the QSR (quick-service restaurant) industry
- Proficiency in major social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, X) and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva)
- Working knowledge of audio and video editing for social media content creation
- Experience leveraging AI tools, such as ChatGPT, in a professional setting
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Fluency in an Asian language (reading and writing) is a plus
- Interest in and understanding of corporate communications, public affairs, retail, fast food, and franchise industries
