We are currently seeking a Full TIme Infection Preventionist-Education Coordinator, LPN to work in our 66 bed skilled nursing unit. This is a salaried position working 9-5:30 Monday - Friday , however, flexibility may be needed to make sure all shifts are covered. This position participates in Nursing on-call and manager on duty rotation.

About the Role:

The Infection Preventionist(LPN) plays a critical role in safeguarding the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors by developing, implementing, and monitoring infection control policies and procedures. This position is responsible for identifying infection risks, conducting surveillance, and analyzing data to prevent and control healthcare-associated infections. The Infection Preventionist collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to educate healthcare personnel on best practices and regulatory compliance. They lead outbreak investigations and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal infection prevention standards. Ultimately, this role aims to reduce infection rates and promote a culture of safety within the healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active NJ Licensed Practical Nursing License in the State of New Jersey
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or eligibility to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • At least two years of experience in infection prevention or a related healthcare role.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control principles, epidemiology, and healthcare regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a long term care clinical setting with diverse patient populations.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and infection surveillance software.
  • Advanced training in epidemiology or healthcare quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in infection prevention initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and analyze infection data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and update infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection control protocols, hand hygiene, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Lead investigations of infection outbreaks, including data collection, analysis, and reporting findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to promote infection prevention strategies and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.

The Infection Preventionist utilizes analytical skills daily to interpret infection surveillance data and identify potential risks. Strong communication skills are essential for educating healthcare staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to implement infection control measures effectively. Organizational skills enable the management of multiple projects, including policy development and outbreak investigations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Proficiency with technology, such as electronic health records and surveillance software, supports efficient data collection and analysis. Leadership and problem-solving skills are applied to drive continuous improvement in infection prevention practices and promote a culture of safety.
