Job Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating and maintaining manufacturing schedules to support on-time delivery of customer orders. This role works closely with departments such as production, customer service, materials, and purchasing to ensure that planning activities align with customer demand and internal capacity. Final decisions on important matters, such as scheduling priorities and resource allocation, are typically made by management. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in communication and planning systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and monitor production schedules to meet customer demand and align with master production and inventory strategies.
  • Review open sales orders, release work orders, and coordinate material and tooling availability to support scheduled production.
  • Analyze capacity constraints, material arrivals, and quality issues; adjust schedules and communicate changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with production, materials, purchasing, and customer service teams to ensure alignment on priorities and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Track work orders, update ERP/MRP systems, and maintain accurate planning data.
  • Coordinate material flow and kitting activities to ensure timely delivery to production lines.
  • Participate in daily tier and cross-functional meetings to communicate schedule status and address production challenges.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as schedule adherence, inventory levels, and on-time delivery; recommend actions for improvement.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and ERP data integrity.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and cycle count activities as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in one of the following fields: Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics and Transportation; OR equivalent experience.

Job Requirements

  • 0–2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain support within a manufacturing environment (medical device experience preferred).
  • Basic understanding of ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite ERP experience preferred).
  • Foundational knowledge of planning and scheduling concepts such as demand, capacity, and lead time.
  • Familiarity with Lean or continuous improvement principles preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
