Description:
The Massage Therapist is responsible for performing therapeutic massages of soft tissues and joints.
Job Duties:
Applies finger and hand pressure to specific points of the body.
Assesses patients’ soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
Confers with patients about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful.
Develops and proposes patients’ treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.
Massages and kneads the muscles and soft tissues of the human body in order to provide courses of treatment for medical conditions and injuries or wellness maintenance.
Prepares and blends oils and applies the blends to clients' skin.
Maintains treatment records.
Provides clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement, and stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises.
Administers massage therapy treatments by giving massages; initiating traction; applying physical agents; utilizing hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines; directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Maintains patient confidence and protects medical center operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist (required)
Licensed Massage Therapist (required)
Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
