SUMMARY:
The Ultrasound Technologist performs duties under the direction of the Radiologist, Technical Director, and Lead/Chief Technologist. May perform other job-related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI.
MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A graduate from an accredited ultrasound school or sufficient job experience.
- Any employee who discovers, is directly involved in or is responding to an event/occurrence/risk is required to complete or direct the completion of an occurrence report within 24 hours of event/occurrence/risk.
- My job performance, including current competencies, will be reviewed by my supervisor on a periodic basis. If my job performance/ current competencies are not (or continue to not be) at required level this could result in additional training and/or disciplinary action.
- ARDMS certified plus additional specialty test preferred. Must meet ACR certification requirements to have at least one of the following certifications: ARDMS, AB, OB/GYN, PS or RVT.
- Performance of routine ultrasound exams.
- Maintains policies and protocols for Ultrasound department.
- Responsible for overseeing the function of all Ultrasound departments.
- Responsible for all Quality Assurance ultrasound exams.
- Completing patient paperwork.
- Aide in the clinical experience and teaching of Ultrasound students.
- Immediately report any machine malfunction or repairs to Chief, Lead and/or the appropriate service engineers.
- Follow appropriate ACR protocols and guidelines for all ultrasound exams.
- Communicating with the radiologists and staff about in-departmental and patient exams.
