The Departmentof Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of New Mexico HealthSciences Center invites applicants for a full-time faculty position as OpenRank Lecturer. The assignment will be through the Office ofEducation. The Director of Social Work will be charged with developing asocial work program, administering the program, creating a curriculum to meetthe program's needs, and teaching social work courses. Strategic planningto meet short- and long-term goals will be essential. The Director willensure program success by collaborating with constituents, internal andexternal stakeholders, state mental health agencies, and the social workprograms of other higher education institutions.

The Director willensure program success by collaborating with constituents, internal andexternal stakeholders, state mental health agencies, and the social workprograms of other higher education institutions.
Other dutieswill include:
- Oversight forthe creation of an advisory board, which will provide support, expertise, andassistance in shaping the overall direction of the program.
- Supervision ofall program employees, including a project coordinator, field practicumcoordinator, social work instructors, administrative staff, and studentworkers.
- Creation ofleadership and learning opportunities for students.
- Utilization ofonline technologies to support program curriculum and initiatives.
- Support forsocial work research and professional development opportunities to improve theknowledge and skills of social work practitioners statewide and faculty atUNMHSC and other institutions.
- Working jointlywith the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department (CYFD) and otherapplicable agencies and organizations to support state social work objectivesof strengthening family systems, addressing child welfare issues, identifyingvulnerable populations, and similar social work foci.
- Collaborationwith the University of New Mexico Hospital to expand practicum placements.
- Providingregular reports of program activities and outcomes to collaborators andstakeholders, within and outside of the university.
- Acting as anadvocate for the work of the program with the New Mexico Legislature, stateagencies, and national organizations and agencies.
- Activeparticipation in national and state professional and interdisciplinaryorganizations and taskforces to encourage the inclusion of social workinitiatives related to research and program planning.
- Identifyinglocal, state, and federal funding opportunities to support and develop theprogram's mission and goals.
- Exploring thepossibility of expanding the program nationwide (dependent on additionalfunding).
- Management offinances to meet program goals.
- Pursue grantwriting to secure financial support.
- Present on theprogram's research efforts and activities to leadership.

- Master's degree in social work or counseling
- Licensed in New Mexico
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience coordinating and developing projects and activities, including research.
- Two or more years of experience in social work education and/or social work research.
- Administrative experience including budget review and grant writing.
- A history of working in public/population health setting or social work setting, or social work-related organization.
- Experience supervising and evaluating staff.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
