About This Position
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Collects blood specimens by venipuncture or fingerstick for clinical patient testing. Prepares samples for transport to reference laboratories. Performs electrocardiogram tracings for interpretation and Holter monitor hookups.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Performs patient hookups for Holter Monitor testing.
- Acquires electrocardiogram tracings for physician interpretation.
- Instructs patients in the proper collection procedure for self-collections of certain samples for culturing.
- Prepares and logs specimens being transported to clinical and pathology reference labs.
- Places lab supply orders to storeroom.
- Performs blood collection by venipunctures and micro-collection techniques.
- Processes specimen to ensure the integrity of the sample prior to testing. Distributes specimens to the appropriate testing area.
- Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Travels to off-site draw stations as assigned.
- Demonstrates, creates, and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation and provides care that consistently complies with the Aultman Corporate Service Standards and high reliability culture.
- Manages time wisely and seeks assignments when duties are completed.
- Completes training and competency to collect nasopharyngeal swabs.
- Represents the hospital by volunteering for community activities which may include participation at community events, activities or on local boards.
- Seeks opportunities for involvement and participates in hospital based committees.
- Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Eight to twelve hour shifts; weekends; and off-shifts; or hours as required by the job
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day
- Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
- Hazardous Exposure Category – I – tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
O = Occasi 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
C = C 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
