About This Position
Position Summary
The Tooling position is a hands-on role responsible for fabricates, sets up, and operates industrial equipment used to produce tooling fixtures and requires strong technical expertise, including the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
The role requires a strong knowledge of machine setups, CNC and manual mills while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality while coordinating all tooling activities and priorities; establishes and maintains standard work; fosters a continuous improvement culture; and ensures employees meet established workplace expectations.
This position is accountable for maintaining a safe and incident-free work environment; and meeting budgetary and productivity goals. The Tooling Lead also maintains accurate records, ensures equipment and supplies are properly maintained, and places requisitions for materials and tooling as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be an experienced machinist with a minimum of
- 3 years of journey-level experience.
- Required experience with Bridgeport mills and manual lathes.
- Demonstrated expertise in CNC machining or Profile machining.
- Working knowledge of shop planning and tooling coordination.
- Practical experience and technical knowledge applicable to fixturing and tooling applications.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Certification from an accredited technical college a plus
- Minimum 3 years of progressive milling experience as journey level.
- Aerospace industry experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Skills
- Possess basic math and geometry knowledge with elementary knowledge of engineering principals helpful
- Ability to read blueprints, follow work order and verbal instructions
- Knowledgeable of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) Ability to facilitate team problem solving, and communicate both orally and in writing.
- Working knowledge across all machining operations.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, summarize, and maintain information.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective interpersonal relations.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a team effort.
- Ability to find, analyze, and solve problems.
- Must have worked with shop metrics, efficiency, productivity, utilization, and continuous improvement projects
