About This Position
Job Title: Studio Tech
Reports to: Lead Audio Engineer
Position Type: Full-time, Hourly Non Exempt
MISSION: (The essence of the job)
The Studio Tech will be the client’s point of contact while in the studio. You are responsible for setting up, operating, and not only maintaining audio equipment, but ensuring the studio and items in the studio are replenished and operating during band rehearsals. You’ll greet and work closely with clients to ensure a premier experience, optimal sound quality, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to a professional and inspiring rehearsal environment, start to finish.
OUTCOMES: (What must get done and how will we measure success)
- Review booking details prior to rehearsal start time and reach out to confirm any missing information
- Ensure rehearsal studios and equipment are clean and orderly, and set up as requested, prior to rehearsal start time
- Keep detailed inventory of audio/rental equipment usage and report any damage or maintenance requests for studios or equipment
- Serve as the in-house point of contact for clients
- Set a mix for FOH (front of house) and monitors to begin rehearsal, conduct sound checks and adjust levels to achieve the desired sound balance, monitor and mix live audio during rehearsals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently, provide technical support and guidance to clients as needed
- Strike and store equipment at the end of rehearsal
- Reset studio between clients; Organize, clean, and restock amenities as needed
- Collaborate with the studio team to improve audio setups and studio workflows
- Complete minor audio equipment repairs (cables, Dis, snakes, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas (workshops, studios, etc.)
- Assist with front desk coverage, and delivery check in as needed
CRITICAL
- Proven experience as an audio engineer, preferably in a live or rehearsal studio setting
- Strong knowledge of audio equipment, signal flow, and mixing techniques
- Familiarity with a variety of musical genres and band setups
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and hospitably with clients
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

PHYSICAL
- Frequent moving and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking throughout campus but may remain stationary for long periods of time
- Frequently uses manual dexterity to type, handle and use audio equipment
- Frequent exposure to loud music
