About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanical Engineer Technician will participate as a valuable member of the Engineering team. This position will work directly with the Engineering Department to assist in the design, development, and testing of MiTek products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participate as a multidisciplinary engineering team member.
  • Assist Engineers with the design, development, integration and testing of MiTek products.
  • Assist with the assembly and testing of proof-of-concept prototypes and fixtures.
  • Assist with the documentation of mechanical engineering parts and assemblies for engineering and production.
  • Participate in the QA/QC process of mechanical engineering designs and DFM.
  • Generate and assist in ECR/ECO writing and execution with manufacturing.
  • Provide support for other departments as required.

ESSENTIAL TASKS

  • Set up prototype, assess apparatus, and operate test controlling equipment to observe and record prototype test results.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to assist and communicate as needed.
  • Validate products or equipment using test devices such as calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
  • Work with mechanical engineers to generate Critical to Function (CTF) 2D documentation of product parts and assemblies.

Education

Degree in a technical field of study such as engineering, computer science, math, physics or 5 years of experience as a technician in a technical area.

Experience

  • Familiarity with basic product development processes
  • Familiarity with Solidworks CAD package, knowledge of PDM a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills

  • Proficient with all MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proficient with Solidworks
  • Ability to learn MiTek’s internal computer systems and navigate network/network file structures

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of general product aspects such as mechanical, firmware, and systems applications is helpful
  • Knowledge of mechanical materials (metals, plastics, etc...) is a plus
  • Knowledge and previous experience of basic hand tools and lab equipment
