This role is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to shape how complex financial matters are interpreted, documented, and applied across a fast-growing, technology-driven organization. You will serve as a key authority on U.S. GAAP, ensuring consistency and rigor in technical accounting across revenue, leases, equity, and other non-routine transactions. The position offers broad visibility across Finance, Legal, Operations, and Executive leadership, directly influencing critical reporting and business decisions. You will also play a central role in SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and external audit coordination. Working in a dynamic and evolving environment, you will help build scalable accounting policies and strengthen financial controls. This is a highly cross-functional role where technical expertise meets strategic business partnership.
- Research, analyze, and document complex technical accounting matters under U.S. GAAP, preparing formal position memos and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
- Lead accounting for equity and stock-based compensation, including technical analysis, reporting, and coordination with finance leadership and equity stakeholders.
- Support recurring technical accounting evaluations, including impairment assessments, segment reporting, and going concern analysis.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting policies to ensure consistency in U.S. GAAP application across the organization.
- Assist with SEC reporting deliverables, including quarterly and annual filings (10-Q, 10-K) and consolidated financial statements.
- Partner with external auditors and support SOX compliance, including documentation of internal controls over technical accounting areas.
- Act as a cross-functional advisor, translating complex accounting topics for FP&A, Legal, Operations, and executive teams to support decision-making.
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams with strong organization, accuracy, and process improvement focus.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining Big 4/public accounting and industry exposure.
- Strong expertise in technical accounting research and drafting formal, defensible accounting memoranda.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 842 (leases), and ASC 718 (equity compensation).
- Experience operating in a SOX-compliant environment with exposure to internal controls and audit coordination.
- SEC reporting experience is a plus, as is experience in high-growth or startup environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to simplify complex accounting concepts.
- Familiarity with modern ERP and reporting tools (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva) is preferred.
- Remote-friendly role with preference for candidates in the San Francisco or Denver areas
- Exposure to complex, high-impact accounting challenges in a dynamic environment
- Opportunity to influence accounting policies and financial reporting decisions at scale
- Collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional business teams
- Involvement in both recurring reporting cycles and strategic technical projects
- Occasional travel for collaboration and reporting activities (<2 weeks per quarter)
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and scope of responsibility
