The Role

Reporting to the Access Network Design Manager, the Service Designer will be responsible for delivery of projects which include new on-net fibre connectivity designs requiring the review of existing ISP distribution fibre and port capacity both at the customer premise and Beanfield points of presence. This position will be responsible for the accurate documentation of all network connectivity, implementation instruction and customer connectivity as-build in a variety of systems. This key position will work closely with Sr. Fibre Designers and the OSP construction division to ensure all project requirements are met, while assisting Sales on incoming requests.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for maintaining data integrity of all databases through timely review, completion, and entry of As-build records into Patch Manager and ISP repository archives.

  • Create technical documents for the implementation of new On-Net services, and maintain accurate records in Patch Manager, JIRA and project trackers.

  • Accountable for the review of ISP port capacity and proactively communicating with Network Designers to ensure constant port availability.

  • Responsible for the design and timely delivery of Simplex service designs.

  • Documenting OSP/ISP related information gathered from field notes or pre-design Audits

  • Responsible for the timely entry of as-built records in to Patch Manager

  • Delivering field instructions for ISP connectivity (Workorders) within standard timeframes or internal SLAs.

  • Participate in special initiatives often supervised by Senior designers.

  • Prepare P2P network architecture diagrams

  • As required, attending site visits to meet/accommodate contractors.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • University Degree or College Diploma in computer science, engineering, or related work experience.

  • Prior experience in the Telecommunication industry is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to quickly learn on the job and leverage experiences and knowledge.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Team oriented approach.

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. The salary range indicated includes a Short Term Incentive Plan (“STIP”) which represents a percentage of your Base Salary based on the achievement of individual and corporate objectives; The STIP payment is calculated based on a formula that takes into account several factors, including, without limitation, corporate and individual performance measures. The STIP payment is conditional upon meeting all of the STIP’s eligibility requirements.
