About This Position


Position Description:

The Sr. Business Analyst will evaluate and assesses data inputs and conduct translations of data reported to the company from its agencies and claims adjusters, with the primary focus being claims adjusters. The analyst gathers necessary information to perform data analysis and records data dictionaries for the inputs and translation of the partner data into the company’s databases/tables and maintains these. An analyst must excel in strategic thinking, financial analysis, strategy development, decision making, critical thinking, and have deep and extensive knowledge of the workings of databases, reporting, and transactional insurance business. The analysts' tasks differ on a day-to-day basis depending on the needs of the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather and analyze information reported by the company’s partners.
  • Analyze new inputs to ensure accurate and adequate reporting of policy and claims transactions to the insurance companies from producers and administrators.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify their data needs and implement strategies to meet those needs.
  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources and clearly indicate quality of final analysis.
  • Communicate complex data in comprehensible ways.
  • Establish partner reporting routines and process, monitor, and enforce naming and data quality conventions, and timely partner reporting.
  • Communicate company reporting requirements to partners and any changes in data reporting to company employees.
  • Work on quality improvement projects, especially with respect to inputs from partners.
  • Participate and contribute to related projects
  • Ensure proper coordination between IT and process owners by defining conceptual and contextual levels of detail in the business process models
  • Assist with or perform data reconciliations, both of raw client data, client reports, financial reports, and analytical reports to the stored data in the company’s primary systems to ensure that the company data is being consistently reported and distributed.
  • Maintain process knowledge by documenting processes, creatting data maps, and incorporating methods, techniques, notations, standards and best practices of the business analyst team
  • Perform continuous reviews of a process or system to align processes (e.g. models, goals, expectations) with changing business conditions and new products and service offerings

Work Context (In order of priority):

  1. Excellent communication skills are critical.
  2. Ability to analyze context of inputs/reports to policy and claims transactions to ensure the company’s databases and output reports correctly reflect those transactions.
  3. Proficient in the use of analytic tools such as data gathering and analysis, spreadsheets, flow-charting and process diagramming.
  4. Excellent writing skills to produce reports and presentations.

Skills:

  • Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, especially Microsoft business applications and databases.
  • English Language: must be fluent in English and confident with both speaking and writing.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Knowledge of the insurance business, especially policy and claims transactions
  • Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Active Learning :Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

Education & Qualifications

  • College Degree or equivalent certifications, with specialization in Information Systems or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Business Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst or Senior Business analyst preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), Microsoft SharePoint
  • Familiarity with databases, database structures, and general operation of databases, preferably Microsoft SQL
  • Experience with web pages and interfaces perferred.
