This role sits at the core of a dynamic Total Rewards function, responsible for shaping, executing, and continuously improving compensation programs that directly impact talent attraction, retention, and equity across the organization. The Compensation Manager will lead key processes such as merit cycles, job evaluations, market benchmarking, and incentive plan support, ensuring compensation practices are competitive and data-driven. Acting as both a hands-on contributor and team leader, this position balances strategic program design with day-to-day operational execution. The role partners closely with HR, finance, and business leaders to guide pay decisions and support organizational growth and change. It also plays a key part in strengthening compensation infrastructure, systems, and documentation in a fast-evolving environment. In this role, you will lead the administration and continuous improvement of broad-based compensation programs while ensuring fairness, consistency, and alignment with business strategy. You will also provide leadership to a small team and act as a key advisor to stakeholders across the organization.
- Lead the design, execution, and administration of compensation programs, including merit cycles, job pricing, job evaluations, and market benchmarking.
- Conduct internal and external compensation analyses to ensure competitiveness, equity, and retention alignment.
- Support incentive and commission plan administration, working closely with variable compensation and revenue teams.
- Advise leaders and managers on pay decisions, job evaluations, policy interpretation, and compensation best practices.
- Oversee compensation activities related to organizational changes, job architecture, and M&A initiatives.
- Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development to compensation team members while managing workload distribution.
- Drive process improvements, documentation, and systems enhancements to build scalable compensation infrastructure.
This position requires strong technical compensation expertise combined with leadership experience and the ability to operate in a data-heavy, fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in compensation design, analysis, and/or administration.
- 3+ years of people management experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
- Strong experience with incentive or commission compensation programs.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, and large dataset analysis).
- Experience with HRIS systems such as Workday or UKG.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in a matrixed environment.
