- Lead the design and execution of national and regional payer contracting strategies to expand network participation and optimize reimbursement outcomes
- Negotiate and manage contracts with commercial insurers, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid organizations, and other managed care entities
- Analyze contract performance, identify optimization opportunities, and collaborate with internal teams to improve margins and operational efficiency
- Build and maintain strong relationships with payer partners, serving as the primary point of contact for negotiations and strategic discussions
- Partner with revenue cycle, billing, and operations teams to address denials, underpayments, and reimbursement challenges
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to enhance revenue integrity, compliance, and overall financial performance
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic planning and growth initiatives
- Support mergers and acquisitions by evaluating payer contracts and integration strategies
- Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on payer activities and performance
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- At least 5 years of experience in payer relations, managed care contracting, or post-acute healthcare environments
- Strong expertise in reimbursement methodologies, payer structures, and contract negotiation across Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Proven ability to manage and optimize contracts while driving measurable financial outcomes
- Experience resolving reimbursement issues such as denials, underpayments, and billing discrepancies
- Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% as needed
