Purpose:

The Volunteer Coordinator will represent Hunkapi Programs in a positive manner to all stakeholders. Overseeing volunteer activities in a safe, positive, and productive manner is crucial.

Examples of Duties:

  • Liaison to community.
  • Ensure applications submitted to the program are complete.
  • Communicates with applicants regarding orientation opportunities.
  • Holds orientations in accordance with company practices.
  • Communicates with applicants on next steps to becoming a volunteer at Hunkapi.
  • Creates a schedule for volunteers.
  • Ensures adequate volunteer coverage for each shift
  • Communicates safety standards and ensures safety practices are being always implemented.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with all stakeholders.
  • Creates opportunities for volunteers to increase their knowledge base.
  • Works to ensure retention of volunteers by creating meaningful, enriching volunteer work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill in working effectively and positively with all types of people.
  • Skill in critical thinking and problem solving. Attention to detail.
  • Skill in following both verbal and written instruction.
  • Computer skills necessary.
  • Confidential information handled appropriately in keeping with company standards and policies. Understanding of HIPPA policies and protocols.
  • Successful candidate will understand the necessity of developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers and Hunkapi staff.
  • Horsemanship at intermediate level, expert preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

One year experience working in a non-profit organization. Computer skills in Office products are necessary, as is the ability to learn new computer programs, as necessary.Must be able to stand and walk for up to 6 hours at a time, work in inclement weather, and lift 25-50 lbs.
