Scale Buyer & Yard Operations Specialist at Beacon Recycling Inc – Wyoming, Michigan

Beacon Recycling is seeking a Scale Buyer & Yard Operations Specialist to support operations across our Grand Rapids and Wyoming yards. This role is primarily focused on scale buying, customer interaction, and accurate material grading, with additional responsibilities in heavy equipment operation and auto processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact at the scale: greet customers, grade materials, and process transactions accurately
• Identify and purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap in alignment with company standards and market pricing
• Operate scale systems and maintain accurate documentation (coding, notes, photos as needed)
• Support yard operations, including heavy equipment operation (loaders, grapples, etc.)
• Assist with auto processing, torching, and material handling as needed
• Maintain safe yard flow and a clean, organized scale area

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in scrap metal recycling, scale buying, or similar environment preferred
• Ability to accurately identify and grade materials
• Heavy equipment experience (or willingness to learn)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment
  
  

This role will flex between both yards and may evolve as volumes and operations grow.
