Requirements:Position Summary
We are seeking a Traffic Engineer Intern to work in the expanding Transportation group. The Traffic Engineer Intern will work with a Project Manager on a variety of public sector infrastructure projects in the NY/NJ area. Work could include maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) design, signing and striping design, traffic signal design, traffic barrier design, and ITS design, as well as the development and analysis of traffic networks, traffic impact studies, planning studies, data analysis, crash analysis, and traffic signal analysis. We are passionate about the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of safe and efficient transportation systems.
Work Environment
Hybrid Role: 8-hour day with 2 office days depending on the needs of the company. Potential travel to project sites.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare contract plans, estimates and specifications for Traffic Engineering work (Traffic Signals, MPT, signs, pavement markings) on Infrastructure projects in the NY/NJ area, including bridge, roadway, and aviation projects.
· Assist in the preparation of written reports such as traffic impact studies and crash reports.
· Perform analytical tasks including traffic analyses and crash analyses.
· As a small firm, there are great opportunities to work on a variety of projects and learn different aspects of Traffic Engineering including Transportation Planning skills.
Minimum Qualifications
· Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Office software
· Knowledge of AutoCAD
· Knowledge of planning/engineering software (Highway Capacity Software, SYNCHRO/SIM Traffic)
· Uncompromising Integrity
· Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must.
· Have a solid time management system and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
· Authorized to work in the US
· Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, and lift up to 25lbs.
