About This Position

Description:

The Maintenance Manager promotes and supports the production environment at all times. Collaboratively responsible for installation of new equipment including die cast machinery, CNCs, robotics and automation as well as primary responsibility for maintaining, programming, troubleshooting, and modifications to existing equipment. Indirectly supervises activities of maintenance technicians and establishes plant-wide preventative maintenance program; focusing on prevention rather than detection for problems as well as assisting with other departments’ problem solving efforts.

Requirements:

Responsibility

· Work with and advise production floor supervision to accomplish adequate maintenance scheduling and manpower to achieve EBITDA and plant KPI targets.

· In accordance with Linamar’s guidelines, utilize a management review process to develop, measure, improve and achieve key measurable performance objectives including, but not limited to, the following:

o Die Cast Uptime

o Machining Uptime

o On-Time Delivery

o Mean Time to Failure

o Mean Time to Repair

· Indirectly Supervises and performs a wide range of high skilled repairs to automated die cast machine (exclusive of die repair) and machining equipment cells, including preventative maintenance. Works from complex prints, verbal and written instructions.

· Inspects completed work for quality and completion of work ordered.

· Performs and supervises replacements, troubleshooting, repairs to electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical equipment.

· Sources vendors for parts, equipment, support, and services to ensure timely repairs.

· Maintains and upgrades PM programs to maximize equipment life and production up-time.

· Focuses on prevention rather that detection for problems throughout the operation. Initiates problem-solving process and follows through on solutions.

· Owns upkeep of the grounds and facilities including building, HVAC, electrical, cooling tower, air compressors and related areas

· Serve on the Safety Committee to drive and support a safety culture and safety initiatives throughout the plant.

· Serve as a Lean Champion for a value stream team to promote value creation and learning opportunities for team members.

· Drive Continuous Improvement through the Product Line Review (PLR) process using lean thinking and problem solving.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· Supervise, train, assign daily responsibilities, and discipline as necessary part of the Senior Maintenance staff.

Academic/Educational Requirements

Associates degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Broad background in all areas of maintenance - industrial, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic preferred. Lean Manufacturing Certification or training, experience with implementation of Lean Philosophies and Methods, Six Sigma, Problem Solving Training or related experience.

Required Skills/Experience

· Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The fast paces, high tech environment creates a demand for resolving a variety of technical and utilization problems on a daily basis. The incumbent must work from complex blueprints, engineering instructions or repair orders; of having been given the nature of the problem, show the ability to analyze and evaluate what must be done to remedy the production problems resulting from equipment failure.

· Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Computer Skills: Computer literate to read, write, and reply to e-mail. Microsoft word and excel background preferred.

· Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to train others in routine maintenance procedures.

Working Conditions

40 hours per week

In office, Production area as required.

Monday to Friday

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk continuously, bend, use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to handle parts weighing from 5 to 10 pounds, usually using a lift assist for heavier parts. This position requires very repetitive upper extremity work in all tasks. Repetitive grasping of parts or utilizing air guns, sanders or hammers requires grip strength of 50 pounds. The employee will be require to frequently bend forward through partial range on Die Cast or Trim machines and through full range during packing of parts with cycles of an average of 150 to 500 per shift.

Good vision is required to inspect work. This position requires continuous mental and visual attention to operate machinery involving repetitive or diversified work which requires constant alertness or activity. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 40 or more pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and temperature extremes in the plant environment. The employee will be required to work safely while working around and with molten metal temperatures of 1200-1300 degrees. The noise level ranges from low (office environment) to moderate (general plant environment) to high (near machines)
