Senior Software Engineer, Graphics Performance

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Graphics Performance in the United States.

This role sits at the cutting edge of GPU software engineering, focused on building and optimizing high-performance graphics drivers for Linux-based systems. You will contribute to the development of advanced Vulkan and OpenGL technologies that power modern graphics applications across professional and consumer markets. Working at the intersection of hardware and software, you will help shape how next-generation GPUs deliver performance, efficiency, and scalability. The environment is highly technical, collaborative, and globally distributed, bringing together experts in architecture, hardware design, and systems engineering. You will play a key role in improving rendering pipelines, shader performance, and system-level integration. This position offers the opportunity to work on foundational graphics technologies that directly impact gaming, AI, simulation, and visualization workloads worldwide.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and optimize Linux graphics drivers with a strong focus on Vulkan and OpenGL performance, ensuring efficient utilization of GPU hardware across current and future architectures.
  • Build and enhance system-level graphics software components, including rendering pipelines, shader execution paths, and performance-critical runtime features.
  • Collaborate with hardware, architecture, and software teams globally to align driver capabilities with GPU design and platform requirements.
  • Improve and maintain existing graphics features while driving innovation in performance optimization, memory usage, and cross-platform consistency.
  • Analyze and resolve complex low-level performance issues across the graphics stack, including shader execution, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Contribute to system integration efforts on Linux, ensuring stability, scalability, and high-performance graphics delivery across environments.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of programming experience in C and C++, with strong systems-level software development expertise.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing graphics software for Linux, particularly involving OpenGL and/or Vulkan APIs.
  • Strong background in graphics rendering, shader programming, compiler behavior, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Deep understanding of Linux internals, including memory management, scheduling, process control, and hardware virtualization concepts.
  • Experience debugging and optimizing low-level performance issues in complex graphics systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global engineering teams.
  • Self-driven mindset with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ranging from approximately $184,000 to $356,500 depending on level, location, and experience.
  • Eligibility for equity awards and long-term incentive programs.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and wellness coverage.
  • Retirement savings plans with company contributions.
  • Flexible work arrangements and supportive global engineering culture.
  • Opportunities to work on industry-defining GPU and graphics technologies.
  • Inclusive environment committed to diversity, innovation, and continuous learning.
