About This Position

Description:

The Maintenance Planning and Reliability Engineer will serve as the central coordinator for maintenance planning and reliability tracking within the Distribution Center. This role focuses on maintaining the CMMS (MaintainX), creating and scheduling work orders, capturing processes, and reporting on maintenance performance metrics. The role ensures that work is planned effectively, spare parts are available when needed, and performance data is tracked and reported to support up-time and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & CMMS Management

• Administer MaintainX CMMS to ensure accurate data entry, work order creation, and tracking.

• Develop and schedule Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders across automation, facility, and support equipment.

• Standardize job plans and document work instructions for recurring tasks.

• Coordinate with Maintenance Technicians and Operations to ensure work is properly planned and timed.

Data & KPI Tracking

• Track and report daily/weekly/monthly KPIs including downtime, uptime, MTBF, and MTTR.

• Provide data-driven insights to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain accurate maintenance histories for all critical assets.

• Spare Parts & Materials Management

• Monitor spare parts inventory in MaintainX and ensure stock is available for scheduled work.

• Coordinate with Procurement and vendors to order and replenish parts before shortages occur.

• Assist in building and maintaining a spare parts catalog tied to assets.

Reliability Support

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and delayed repairs. Support Root Cause Analysis efforts with vendors and Facility Manager by providing accurate downtime and repair data

• Work with Maintenance Manager and vendors to implement solutions that improve asset uptime.

• Ensure the Maintenance department remains majority proactive instead of reactive by monitoring planning discipline, PM compliance, and reliability data.

• Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline maintenance workflows and improve planning efficiency.

• Recommend updates to PM frequencies, job plans, or parts strategies based on performance data.

• Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at reducing downtime and improving overall DC reliability.

• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related) preferred; equivalent technical experience considered.
  • Strong experience with CMMS systems (MaintainX preferred).
  • Familiarity with automation, conveyors, or distribution center equipment preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and present data.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Power BI or other reporting tools is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.

• Frequent hand and finger use for keyboarding, writing, and mouse operation.

• Adequate vision to read screens, documents, spreadsheets, and maintenance-related materials.

• Clear verbal communication for meetings, phone calls, and collaboration with office and warehouse teams.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout office and warehouse areas as needed.

• Ability to lift and carry items up to 15 pounds regularly and occasionally more as business needs require.

• Ability to work safely around warehouse machinery and equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, and other industrial equipment (with appropriate training and safety precautions).

• Ability to tolerate varying environmental conditions, including exposure to hot, cold, dusty, or noisy warehouse spaces during warehouse visits.

• Ability to maintain focus, multitask, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

• Primarily works in a professional office environment with regular use of computers, phones, printers, and standard office equipment.

• Periodic work in the warehouse is required to support operations and maintenance planning.

• Warehouse areas may involve exposure to varying temperatures, dust, elevated noise levels, forklifts, and moving machinery.
