This role focuses on supporting the design and documentation of fire alarm system installations through detailed CAD drafting and technical drawing development. You will work closely with design professionals to translate project requirements into accurate, build-ready plans that include floor layouts, system diagrams, and supporting calculations. The position plays a key part in ensuring safety systems are properly designed, compliant, and ready for implementation across a variety of projects. You will collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical questions, support project delivery, and ensure documentation quality and consistency. Operating in a structured but collaborative engineering environment, you will contribute to the successful execution of life-safety system designs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone detail-oriented who enjoys technical drafting and working within multidisciplinary teams on impactful infrastructure projects.
- Develop CAD drawings and technical documentation for fire alarm system designs based on project specifications and engineer direction.
- Produce detailed layouts, floorplans, system diagrams, calculations, and installation details using standardized tools and libraries.
- Collaborate with designers and project teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
- Support internal stakeholders by responding to technical questions and assisting with design-related requests.
- Participate in team coordination efforts to meet project deadlines, solve design challenges, and ensure workflow continuity.
- Maintain organized project files and complete required administrative and documentation tasks.
- Follow established design processes and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2023 or newer) for technical drafting and design work.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, or under direct supervision depending on project needs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with a professional approach to internal collaboration and stakeholder interaction.
- Preferred: familiarity with fire alarm systems and life-safety design principles.
- Preferred: basic understanding of low-voltage electrical systems and schematics.
- Preferred: exposure to Revit/BIM environments is a plus.
