Northwest Kidney Centers seeks Biomedical Engineer Technician to support the Biomed team in a full-time, on-site position.
The technician will support multiple clinic location with the primary location in Burien, WA.
Shift:Full-time, Monday-Friday, On-site. Requires rotating on-call shift.
Purpose
The Biomedical Engineering Technician 1 is responsible to the Biomedical Engineer Supervisor for ensuring the proper installation and functioning of dialysis machines and associated equipment; troubleshooting equipment problems and performing repairs; and performing other duties related to the safe and effective operation of equipment. These duties may be performed at NKC, affiliates, designated hospitals, or home locations. This position is also responsible for performing relief and/or project duties, when required.
Duties
- Plans and arranges workload under supervision from the Biomedical Engineer Supervisor.
- Responsible of all medical equipment in Northwest kidney Center in-centers, home therapies and Hospital services.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain medical equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Have knowledge of the function and safe operation of water treatment and dialysis machines.
- Collect samples of Ro water and dialysate for microbiology testing according to Protocol.
- Collect water samples for AAMI analysis testing according to protocol.
- Prepares appropriate documentation such as work orders, expense reports, and other records as required.
- Operates equipment such as dialysis machines and associated equipment, meters and shop services tools, repair vehicles, and is responsible for maintaining own tool kit and personal vehicle available for service calls, if required.
- Perform Electrical safety on dialysis machines and related equipment.
- Attend and participate in monthly Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings.
- Participate in staff meeting as required. Attend in-service and continuing education sessions in compliance with NKC Policy and procedures.
- Assist with staff training as requested.
- Ability to react and perform under stress and in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate and interface effectively with others.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of English language and ability to communicate verbally and writing.
- Ability to work independently as well as others to plan and organize work assignment.
- Ability for On-call rotations.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering or a combination of higher education and equivalent experience.
- Valid Washington State driver license. License must be maintained as current, without restrictions and good driving record.
- Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous Dialysis, hospital, or medical experience.
- Certified Biomedical Nephrology Technologist (CBNT) or Certified Hemodialysis Bio-Medical Technician (CHBT) or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET).
