Role Overview
The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for supporting inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency through detailed inventory control, cycle counting, system maintenance, and process improvement. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage inventory workflows within a warehouse management system (WMS). The Inventory Coordinator works independently and collaboratively to ensure inventory integrity and to support smooth receiving, picking, and shipping operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate inventory records through daily inventory control activities and system updates
- Coordinate and execute cycle counting programs, inventory adjustments, and location transfers
- Support warehouse slotting and organization activities, including velocity slotting and location setup
- Manage SKU setup and maintenance, including weights, dimensions, units of measure, and warehouse attributes
- Ensure all documentation related to inventory movement is accurate, complete, and properly filed
- Identify, analyze, and help resolve inventory discrepancies tied to receiving, picking, shipping, or system issues
- Label and maintain warehouse locations, including barcode setup, striping, and physical identification
- Monitor inventory trends and process gaps and recommend improvements to reduce errors and increase efficiency
- Partner with warehouse and operations teams to support supply chain and service-level objectives
- Prepare inventory reporting and communicate key findings to management
- Communicate with MPU/Vendors when appropriate to resolve inbound shipment issues
- Audit inbound shipments when there is damage along with documenting discrepancies
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related role preferred
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Excel)
- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory software strongly preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with warehouse teams and management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of end-to-end warehouse workflows (receiving, picking, shipping)
- Flexibility to support extended hours as needed based on operational requirements
