About This Position

Quality Control Scientist I

Serán is searching for an experienced Scientist to join our Quality Control team! The role of Scientist I supports the laboratory's ongoing sample testing performed by the Quality Control department in support of GMP practices and customer satisfaction. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise with specific laboratory equipment, techniques, and methods for technical review and data analytics for the development and manufacturing of pharmaceutical therapies. The ideal education includes a Bachelors degree in Chemistry or another related field and 1-2 years post-graduation of hands-on instrumentation experience with a variety of analytical equipment within a GMP laboratory environment. Applicants without GMP or post-graduation experience are also encouraged to apply if they also have 2 years of lab experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
    Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures, cGMPs, Quality Manual, and company policiesPerforms routine testing using analytical equipment including but not limited to HPLC, GC, KFC, Disso, etc. Conducts appearance testing, raw materials sampling, solution preparation, and pH measurementsDrafts stability tables, sets-up stability studies, logs-in samples and standardsCleans lab and glassware and disposes of analytical waste appropriatelyParticipates in process improvement and other non-routine projectsConducts peer review of routine testing at the discretion of the relevant supervisorPerforms hypothesis testing or investigative work for OOS results under management and SME guidanceDemonstrates cross-functional support capabilities with other QC teams
Required Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, engineering, or related scientific discipline Hands on lab experience Communicates effectively and maintains productive relationships with coworkers, clients and other contacts outside the Company Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in cross-functional teams Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing while monitoring laboratory equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times routinely, 30 pounds occasionally
  • Motor skills for basic laboratory operations
  • Adheres to consistent and predictable in-person attendance
