The Data and AI Governance Manager will design and continuously improve governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure responsible, compliant, and high-quality use of data and AI across the organization. You will collaborate with senior leaders across technology, risk, compliance, legal, and business units, translating strategic objectives into actionable governance practices. The role combines strategy, risk management, and operational execution while embedding a culture of accountability and ethical AI use. You will also lead a high-performing team, influence AI deployment decisions, and monitor key metrics to ensure organizational excellence. The Data and AI Governance Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, and sustaining robust governance practices across data and AI domains:
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide Data & AI Governance frameworks aligned to DCAM, NIST AI RMF, and ISO 42001 standards.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards, and processes covering data quality, metadata management, AI risk, and lifecycle governance.
- Oversee data stewardship, critical data element identification, classification, and management using governance tools like Collibra or equivalent.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Business teams to identify, mitigate, and report emerging AI and data risks.
- Facilitate governance councils, stewardship forums, and executive reporting, ensuring clear documentation and communication of decisions.
- Lead and develop a team of governance professionals, allocating resources, mentoring staff, and fostering a high-performing, inclusive culture.
- Drive cultural adoption of responsible data and AI practices through training, communication strategies, and executive engagement.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degrees in related fields a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in data governance, AI governance, data management, or risk & compliance roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide AI governance frameworks.
- Hands-on knowledge of DCAM, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, or equivalent governance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead governance programs in a regulated financial services or technology environment.
- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and facilitating governance bodies such as Data Councils or AI Review Boards.
- Expertise with data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or similar) and familiarity with AI/ML lifecycle platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills with senior executives.
- Ability to translate complex governance concepts into actionable business value and operational practices.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
