POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide the supervision and support needed to assure the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities in a Head Start pre-school classroom utilizing the PA Early Learning Standards/Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF), children’s interests and the Creative Curriculum assessment tool. SCOPE AND IMPACT: • Responsible for assisting center staff in an effort to keep focused of the program's vision, philosophy, goals and objectives. • Responsible for the direct organization and implementation of the Head Start Program in assigned classroom. • Responsible for assessing the needs of each family and assisting them in setting goals to become self-sufficient and provide an environment that supports their child’s education and well-being.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan, in conjunction with parents, classroom staff and the Area Manager, implementation of program objectives in all areas of the Head Start Program • Support, supervise, and evaluate Classroom Aides and Cook Manager. Performance evaluations will be completed annually. • Complete home visits with each family to collect information from families and to share information with the family regarding their child’s development and experiences in the center, as well as provide family with support they need to ensure their child’s success in kindergarten. • Works with families to assess their needs and assist them in meeting their goals and program objectives. • Connects parents with community resources and supports parents in problem solving when they are faced with barriers. • Complete 2 parent-teacher conferences to discuss individual children’s skill levels in all the key areas of child development. • Ensure that all classroom activities are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the PA Early Learning Standards and support Head Start Performance Standards. • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment with other staff to keep the center clean, organized and rotate materials regularly. • Promote physical and intellectual competence in children. • Build positive self-esteem and individual strength in both children and adults in the learning environment. • Plan and organize in center special visitors/activities. • Plan and conduct bi-weekly staff meetings with classroom staff members. • Maintain, update or delegate maintenance of all records assuring they are accurate and submitted by the deadline. • Include the Family Advocate in open communication about staff meetings, center operations and support them to meet the individual child/family needs. • Continue to gain knowledge in the field of early childhood development. • Attend ongoing Professional Development and maintain PD record in PA Keys. • Utilize the Creative Curriculum with Fidelity and submit lesson plans for the classroom based on child assessment data, individual child goals, and IEP’s. • Document consistent on-going observations and assessments on each child using the curriculum data base to plan for the classroom and each child’s individual needs. • Utilize the CLASS tool to expand children’s learning through positive interactions. • Participate in parent meetings, recruitment efforts, special event planning, etc. as requested. • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, in regard to accessing Protected Health information, according to the HIPAA Policy and procedure Manual. • Share confidential family/staff personal information as needed. • Maintains contact with building lessee’s to address scheduling of building use or resolve building issues or concerns. • Develop a positive relationship with the school district which includes participating in planning and implementing of transition activities • Works to ensure that staff work together as a team to provide quality services to children. • Plan and share activities with parents based on child’s developmental needs. • Use positive approach to classroom management and discipline to ensure expectations for children are appropriate and children are actively involved in problem solving. • Any and all other duties as assigned by the Head Start Area Supervisor.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. o Teacher 2: Level 1 Certification in Early Childhood Education. o Teacher 3: Level 2 Certification in Early Childhood Education. • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Acts 33, 34, 114, and sex offender registry clearances. • Physical and TB test prior to start . **Must be PA Pre-K Certified.
