Today, we would like to invite you to participate in the recruitment process for YAPEAL, a Swiss fintech operating in the payments and embedded finance space.
YAPEAL is a regulated fintech with a FINMA banking licence, building modern financial infrastructure for companies that want to embed financial services into their products (embedded finance), as well as offering direct banking-like services for individuals and businesses. The company has been on the market for around 8 years and has evolved from retail-focused solutions into a API-first platform for payments, cards, onboarding and real-time financial services.
Now, we are looking for a Tech Lead (Payments & Cards) who will take ownership of the technical direction of card and payment systems and actively contribute hands-on to building and scaling them.

The biggest challenge in this role:
You’ll be responsible for designing and evolving core card and payment systems, including real-time transaction processing, authorization, settlement and partner integrations, while still staying hands-on in code (Go) and technical decision-making.
Your responsibilities:- Defining technical direction for card and payment products in collaboration with Product and partners
- Designing and building card issuance, authorization and settlement systems (credit, debit, prepaid)
- Owning real-time transaction processing flows and system reliability
- Leading architecture decisions in distributed, API-first systems
- Managing and developing integrations with card processors, VISA networks and KYC providers
- Translating business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions
- Acting as a bridge between business and engineering, removing blockers and driving clarity
- Staying hands-on in Go development and actively contributing to production systems
- Ensuring scalability, security and performance of financial infrastructure
- Strong experience in fintech / payments / card systems
- Hands-on experience with Go
- Background in distributed systems and API-first architectures
- Experience with real-time transaction processing or similar high-reliability systems
- Familiarity with cloud environments (preferably Google Cloud)
- Understanding of card lifecycle: authorization, clearing, settlement
- Strong problem-solving mindset and pragmatic approach to engineering decision
- Real technical ownership over payment and card infrastructure
