Job Overview:
Production Planning and Controls Manager is responsible for developing and managing the master production schedule (MPS) to ensure alignment between demand forecasts, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and inventory goals. This role serves as a critical link between procurement and manufacturing, ensuring production is executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products to customers while minimizing delays and excess inventory. Coordinate the production schedule with raw material requirements and plant capacity.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper stock control, including raw materials, components, and finished goods. Implement systems to reduce inventory waste and improve supply chain efficiency.
- Oversee day-to-day production operations and ensure adherence to production schedules. Work closely with the production team to address any issues that may arise during the manufacturing process, ensuring minimal disruptions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower production costs. Utilize lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to drive improvements.
- Run MRP reports in ERP software and workout shortages of raw material, Buyout parts based on the firm Order and provide purchase requisition to Buyer.
- Keen understanding of the gate manufacturing process, Control Plan, and engineering instruments.
- Identified bottlenecks in the production process, Project Delay’s escalate to management.
- Collaborate with various departments, including manufacturing, procurement, quality control, and logistics, to ensure smooth production operations.
- Prepare regular reports inventory levels, and any deviations from planned schedules.
- Promote a safe working environment and encourage adherence to health and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment, engineered or fabricated gate and water control products.
- In-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP PP & MM module, Oracle, Epicor, etc.).
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret large sets of data and make data-driven decisions.
- Proven ability to manage complex production schedules and balance competing priorities.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills to coordinate across departments.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, fabrication, assembly, and coatings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a project-based or make-to-order manufacturing environment.
- Background in water control systems, infrastructure components, or similar industries.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles.
