This role offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to the upkeep and transformation of residential properties within a growing real estate portfolio. You will play a key role in maintaining high-quality living environments by performing renovations, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks. Working in a hands-on and collaborative setting, you’ll bring your carpentry expertise to a variety of projects, from unit turnovers to structural improvements. The position combines independence with teamwork, requiring both technical skill and strong problem-solving abilities. With exposure to diverse maintenance challenges, you’ll have a direct impact on resident satisfaction and property value. Flexibility and responsiveness are essential, as the role may involve on-call duties and varied work schedules.
- Perform carpentry work including measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling materials such as wood, steel, and drywall
- Renovate and repair residential units and common areas, ensuring high-quality finishes
- Install and maintain structures and fixtures such as doors, windows, cabinetry, flooring, and lighting
- Troubleshoot and complete general maintenance tasks, including minor electrical and plumbing work
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project scopes for efficient execution of unit turnovers
- Ensure all structures are level, secure, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with team members and external contractors (e.g., electricians, plumbers) as needed
- Complete assigned work orders (scheduled and emergency) in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Maintain clean, safe job sites and adhere to all safety regulations and procedures
- Support emergency response needs, including after-hours incidents and on-call duties
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in carpentry and residential maintenance or renovation
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and methods
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools (must own personal tools and a work vehicle)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications
- Physical stamina with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks
- Solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Valid driver’s license in good standing and eligibility to work in Canada
- Familiarity with residential tenancy regulations and safety systems is an asset
