Job Description
Cardiac Sonographer-ECA
Per diem role offering a flexible schedule with no weekend or holiday requirements, designed to support a balanced and adaptable work routine.
Job SummaryJoin a specialized cardiovascular team and make a direct impact on patient diagnosis and care. Reporting to the Office Manager of Emerson Cardiovascular Associates and working closely with physicians, the Cardiac Sonographer performs a wide range of diagnostic cardiology studies, including echocardiography and related imaging procedures.
In this role, you will use advanced ultrasound technology to assess cardiac structure and function, support accurate clinical decision-making, and provide a high level of patient-centered care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
What You’ll Do- Perform high-quality diagnostic echocardiograms, including 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler studies
- Evaluate and document cardiac structure, function, and blood flow patterns
- Prepare patients for procedures and clearly explain exam processes to ensure comfort and understanding
- Recognize normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
- Collaborate with physicians to support accurate interpretation and diagnosis
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment
- Follow all safety, infection control, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Completion of an accredited ultrasound program required
- Graduate of a Cardiac Sonography program accredited by CAAHEP (or equivalent) required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing echocardiography (2D, M-Mode, Doppler) strongly preferred
- Vascular ultrasound experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
- Current RDCS or RCS certification required, or registry-eligible with certification obtained within 6 months of hire
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and thoracic anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics
- Proficiency in echocardiographic imaging techniques and ultrasound instrumentation
- Ability to identify and evaluate cardiac abnormalities and blood flow patterns
- Strong understanding of ultrasound physics and image optimization
- Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
- Ability to explain procedures and answer patient questions with clarity and empathy
- Strong attention to detail and diagnostic accuracy
- Proficiency with EHR systems and computer applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Work closely with experienced cardiologists in a collaborative clinical environment
- Utilize advanced imaging technology in a specialized cardiovascular practice
