Job Description

The massage therapist is responsible for providing massage therapy to patients according to the written physician’s or team’s plan of care. The therapist will instruct patients and family members on individualized goals for patient care.

Qualifications

  • Current Florida license
  • Minimum of two years massage therapy experience, preferable experience with patients having life limited expectancy
  • Has the use of a personal vehicle for travel and possesses a valid Florida driver’s license with proof of auto insurance
  • Able to travel in both Martin and St. Lucie county

Key Result Areas

  • Performs assessments to determine therapeutic and functional goals for patients both adult and pediatric.
  • Performs massage therapy procedures in consultation with the patient, caregiver and hospice team.
  • Provides telephone report to the case manager on the patient’s response to therapy or changes in condition.
  • Attends interdisciplinary team meetings as requested.
  • Provides in-service programs for hospice team as requested.
  • Maintains state-required continuing education and licensing certification.
  • Documents professional, accurately, timely, and according to procedures.
  • Performs travel as required for patient/family care, in both homes and facilities.
  • Submits documentation to the case manager within 24 hours of the visit.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities related to the success of the strategic plan of the organization as requested and assigned.

Additional Information

Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites. The person in the position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
