Job Description
PSS LLC is currently hiring an Industrial Carpenter Helper for various projects located in and around Geismar, LA. The work environment will include refineries, petrochemical plants, sugar refineries, and data center construction sites. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals looking to build a career in industrial construction while working under the supervision of experienced carpenters and foremen.
Job Type: Project-based | Turnarounds as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Industrial Carpenters with daily carpentry and construction tasks
- Carry, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment
- Help assemble and dismantle temporary structures, forms, platforms, and enclosures
- Support concrete formwork activities, including cleaning, stripping, and basic assembly
- Perform measuring, cutting, drilling, and fastening tasks under supervision
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow all safety rules, permit requirements, PPE standards, and site procedures
- Attend safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training
- Perform general labor duties such as demolition support, site prep, and material protection
- Take direction from carpenters, foremen, and site supervision
You must be able to safely and productively use the following tools:
- Tape measure
- Hammers
- Drivers
- Drill Motors
- Pry bars
- Wrenches
- TWIC card in hand
- Reliable transportation to and from work sites
- 2 years of experience in an Industrial environment assisting Carpenters
- Speak, read, and write the English language
- Lift up to 80 lbs. and perform repetitive manual tasks
Work Location: Multiple project locations in refineries and petrochemical plants.
Subsistence: Project based Per Diem is available if mileage requirements are met; ranges from $75 to $100 per day.
Schedule: Schedules are project specific and can be 8 to 12 hours per shift; day or night shift; and 4 to 7 working days per week.
Travel: Must be able to travel to and from the worksite. Ability to commute to remote jobs will allow for longer term employment.
