This leadership role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics engineering, and platform strategy, driving the development of scalable, high-quality data systems that power decision-making across a large, mission-driven organization. You will lead the vision and execution of modern data platforms, pipelines, and analytics models that enable product, engineering, data science, and business teams to access reliable and actionable insights. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical oversight, ensuring robust architecture while fostering innovation in data workflows and AI-augmented analytics. You will also play a critical role in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, including developing managers and strengthening the leadership pipeline. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, you will partner across functions to solve complex data challenges and enable data-informed decision-making at scale. You will be responsible for defining and driving the overall data and analytics engineering strategy, ensuring the delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performing data systems that support organizational goals and product innovation. You will lead multiple teams and ensure alignment across architecture, delivery, and operational excellence.
- Define and execute the enterprise data and analytics engineering strategy in partnership with senior leadership
- Lead the design and evolution of scalable data platforms, pipelines, and data models across the organization
- Oversee data ingestion, ELT/ETL workflows, data modeling, and analytics engineering practices
- Guide architectural decisions and ensure strong engineering standards across data infrastructure and tooling
- Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, building a strong leadership pipeline
- Drive delivery of roadmap commitments, OKRs, and cross-team initiatives with accountability for outcomes
- Partner with product, data science, AI, and engineering teams to deliver integrated data solutions
- Manage vendor relationships, evaluate build vs. buy decisions, and optimize cloud and tooling costs
- Champion adoption of AI-driven and agentic development tools to enhance analytics and engineering productivity
- Ensure data quality, observability, and reliability through modern monitoring and governance practices
This role requires extensive experience in data engineering and analytics engineering, combined with strong technical leadership and a proven ability to scale teams and platforms in complex environments. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on technical leader.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related technical fields
- 5+ years of people management experience, including at least 3 years managing managers
- Strong expertise in modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, SQL, Python, and Terraform
- Deep experience in ETL/ELT pipeline design, data modeling, and data platform architecture
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau and analytics enablement practices
- Experience with data quality, observability, and monitoring tools (e.g., dbt tests, Monte Carlo, Great Expectations)
- Proven ability to define multi-year technical strategy and drive OKR-based execution across teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in cross-functional environments
- Experience with AI-assisted development and emerging agentic analytics tools is highly valued
- Competitive salary range of $220,000 – $250,000 USD
