PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer at Jobgether – Quinta de Portugal, Castelo Branco

The position blends technical problem-solving with knowledge sharing, including authoring blog posts, creating documentation, and hosting webinars. Working fully remotely, you’ll have the flexibility to manage your own workflow while participating in occasional team meetings or conferences. • Provide expert PostgreSQL support to customer DBA teams, including data gathering, issue investigation, and detailed reporting via email, chat, or voice.
• Conduct real-time troubleshooting through screen-sharing sessions for production-impacting issues, ensuring fast resolution and minimal downtime.
• Contribute to the broader open-source and customer community by authoring blog posts, knowledge base articles, and hosting webinars.
• Maintain and optimize PostgreSQL environments, including performance tuning, query optimization, backup and recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to proactively anticipate and resolve issues, ensuring operational continuity.
• Participate in occasional travel for team meetings, conferences, or client visits as required.

• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including ecosystem tools, contrib modules, and performance optimization.
• Solid knowledge of backup solutions (pg_basebackup, pgBackRest, WAL-G) and Point-in-Time-Recovery.
• Experience with high-availability solutions (replication, proxies, routers) and zero-downtime procedures.
• Proficiency administering Linux-based systems and using advanced troubleshooting tools (gdb, perf, strace, tcpdump, etc.).
• Ability to troubleshoot methodically and think creatively to solve complex issues.
• Self-driven, curious, and committed to continuous learning in database technologies.
• Excellent communication skills in English and experience working directly with clients.
• Desirable skills: Kubernetes, cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure), monitoring tools (PMM), configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef), and MySQL experience.
