Position Overview
The Retail Operations Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day museum retail operations. They will offer training, leadership, and support to the retail team by providing coaching and feedback. They will foster a positive and inclusive workplace and ensure an excellent guest experience through engagement and customer service. This role will be a key contributor to new ideas and processes that will enhance and grow the retail department. This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring weekends, some evenings, and holidays which reports to the Director of Earned Revenue. Typical days and hours for this position are Tuesday-Saturday, 8:45am-5:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee day-to-day store operations, which includes ensuring all retail locations are open and closed according to retail guidelines. Manage POS operations, and staffing needs. Work daily on the sales floor and serve as a backup to cover retail sales areas throughout the day, including breaks and lunches and callouts from part-time staff as needed. Supervises and supports the Assistant Supervisor, Retail. Able to support other department Supervisors as needed. Responsible for key backup on Sunday’s and Monday’s, and when essential for holiday and vacation coverage.
Sales and Budgeting: Oversees store sales to meet and exceed sales goals and models selling best practices daily. Assists in strategically maximizing store sales using data and analytics to monitor sales progress and results against store budget and plan. Maintains department budget including payroll.
Guest Experience and Customer Service: Create joyful and meaningful experiences for our guests through excellent customer service. Model and uphold customer service best practices, and lead team in creating genuine and meaningful connections with museum guests.
Scheduling and Hiring: Creates team schedules, using data and payroll budget for strategic and thoughtful scheduling. Will hire, train, and supervise new retail team members with the support of the Retail Operations Assistant Supervisor. Responsible for updating and maintaining staffing tools and paperwork such as Rippling and ADP.
Supervision and Training: Will provide direct feedback and coaching to the retail team. Delegates and empowers others and encourages individual growth. Responsible for training, team accountability and development. Contributes todevelopment of training documents and processes as needed. Will evaluate retail team performance and maintain attendance records. Oversees scheduling and timecard corrections and performance conversations. Creates and develops coaching plans and strategies.
Merchandising, Inventory and Stock Room Organization: Oversees visual merchandising and stock room organization. Maintains retail merchandising standards daily. Oversees day-to-day inventory management of products. Works with Director of Earned Revenue to implement floor moves, participate in oversite of store physical inventory, and seasonal theme changes.

Minimum Job Requirements:
· Minimum four (4) years of experience in a retail supervisory role.
· Experience managing POS systems. Knowledge of Shopify is a plus.
· Experience in store merchandising.
· Proficiency in oral and written English language communication. Additional languages are a plus.
· Valid California’s Driver’s License and a clean driving record required.
· Excellent computer skills including using email, internet, Windows, Microsoft Office and
other computer systems.
· Ability to work while standing and walking (with reasonable accommodation) in an outdoor atmosphere that includes inclement or sunny weather. Kidspace is largely an outdoor facility, exposure to outdoor elements is required.
· Requires bending, squatting, crouching, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, and reaching.
Requires lifting and/or carrying up to 20 lbs. and pushing and/or pulling of up to 40 lbs.
The pay range for this role is:
26 - 28 USD per hour(Kidspace)
